Subject The Opening Ceremony of Chungnam One-Stop Support Center for Women
MOGE Minister Baek, Hee Young attended The Opening Ceremony of Chungnam One-Stop Support Center for Women and School Victims of Violence on Jan 13, Wednesday, 2010 at Dankook University Hospital in Chonan, Chungnam Province.

※ The One-stop Support Center in Chungnam and Jeonnam were established on Dec 29 and Dec 30, 2009 each. Jeonnam center is established at Suncheon Saint Carollo Hospital.

Dankook University Hospital provides space for the new Chungnam One-stop Support Center for free and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Chungnam Province provide facility and operation costs. Chungnam Police Agency dispatches women police officers to support investigations.

As the number of One-stop Support Centers increased from 16 to 18, women victims and their family members can be supported anywhere throughout the nation.

The One-stop Support Center is operated by an expert medical organization to provide comprehensive supports of investigation, medical care, counseling, and legal aid for women victims of sexual violence or domestic violence. The center is equipped with proper facilities and system that can provide medical treatment by expert obstetricians and psychiatrists, professional counseling for the victims and their family members, investigation by women police officers and legal aid for 24 hours a day.

※16 One-stop Support Centers provided 19,145 comprehensive services of counseling, medical care and etc. to 4,988 sexual and domestic violence victims as of June 2009

Meanwhile, Minister Baek had a meeting with women representatives of Chungnam to discuss about the way of cooperation between central and local area in relation to women's policies.

In the meeting, Minister Baek explained several policies concerning 'flexitime system' that can create 'Harmony of Work and Life', operating 'Safety Assistant System on Student's Way to School and Home' and 2010 We-Green Project, and asked for support of women society at Chungnam region.

She also visited 'Sexual Violence Counseling Center affiliated with Cheonan Women's Call' and heard opinions of the members and checked the status of supporting victims.

'Sexual Violence Counseling Center affiliated with Cheonan Women's Call' was established on May 2001 and has actively carried out protection and prevention services including the connection between professional counseling and medical-legal support, and transferring the victims of sexual violence to a shelter.
